illimity is a direct bank, headquartered in Milan, Italy, that offers financial services to customers in the Eurozone. It is listed on the Italian Stock Exchange where it sits in the FTSE Italia Mid Cap and FTSE Italia STAR indices.[3][4]

On January 18, 2018, former government Minister Corrado Passera formed a company alongside Andrea Clamer named "Spaxs", a SPAC (Special Purpose Acquisition Company) active in the financial sector.[5]
During the IPO that took place in February 2018, Spaxs raises 600 million euros (36% held by Italian investors, 64% in by foreign investors).[6] In September 2018, Spaxs pays 55.6 million euros to become the majority shareholder (99.2%) of Banca Interprovinciale, a small bank founded in 2009 in Modena (60 million euros worth of assets) and owned by about 100 local entrepreneurs.[7][8]
Afterwards Banca Interprovinciale merges with Spaxs in order to form a bank specialising in SMEs (small and medium enterprises) that show potential but face difficulty in financing their development.[9][10]
The name of the new digital bank illimity is announced in August 2018,[11] which will be founded a few months later.[12]
On March 5, 2019, illimity Bank migrates from the AIM growth market of Borsa Italiana, which collects stocks by small and medium companies, to the MTA, the Italian Equity market devoted to mid and large-size companies, where it stands in the FTSE Italia Mid Cap.[13] As of September 2020, illimity's ordinary shares are accepted into the Star segment.[4]
illimity has also entered into a joint venture agreement in the fintech company HYPE with Fabrick, Sella Group's open banking development company, on September 22, 2020.[14][15]

illimity operates in the following credit areas:[16][17]
- Provision of loans to SMEs that show potential.[18]
- Management of distressed corporate credits, purchased by the company itself and on behalf of third parties,[19][20] mainly through the neprix platform.[21][22]
- Management of Alternative Investment Funds, through illimity SGR (Società di Gestione e Risparmio).[23][24]
- Direct digital banking services, both for individuals and families,[25] via illimitybank.com.[26][27]
