Immortal Disfigurement is an American deathcore band formed in 2021 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania by CJ McCreery (Ex–Signs of the Swarm, Ex–Lorna Shore). The band currently consists of vocalist CJ McCreery, guitarist Josh Freeman (Ex–A Wake in Providence) and bassist Shane Slade (Winds of Plague, Ex–Molotov Solution).[1] The band has not yet performed any live shows, however they do plan to in the near future.[2] The name of the band is a reference to McCreery's most known albums from his previous bands, Immortal from Lorna Shore and The Disfigurment of Existence from Signs of the Swarms.[3] The band has currently released only one studio album and five singles.[4]

History[edit]

After CJ McCreery got fired from Lorna Shore in December 2019, he would go on a musical hiatus before forming Immortal Disfigurement in 2021.[5][6] After recruiting former A Wake in Providence guitarist Josh Freeman, bassist Shane Slade and drummer Jimmy Pino (who he and CJ both used to be in Signs of the Swarm together), the band released their debut single titled "Dragged Through the Inferno" on April 15, 2022.[7] The return of CJ was met with mixed feelings from the community.[8]

Some time in 2022, Jimmy Pino would be replaced by former Worm Shepherd drummer Leo Worrell McClain, and Harry Tadayon would be recruited as the band's second guitarist. With this new lineup, the band began working on their debut studio album, and the album was announced half-done by late 2022.[9] The band released their second single titled "There Is No Light" on February 6, 2023.[10]

On August 25, 2023, the band released their third single titled "King"[11] which gained a lot of notability for the band and marked the 'official comeback' of CJ. The band's debut studio album titled KING was announced that it will be released on January 19, 2024.[12] On November 10, 2023, the band released their fourth single titled "Force-Fed".[13]

On January 17, 2024 (two days before the release of KING) it was announced that the band's debut album will be delayed due mixing and production issues.[14] However, a day later guitarist Harry Tadayon would announce his depature from the band due to him not being satisfied with how CJ is paying him and releases an instrumental version of the album.[15] Drummer Leo Worrell McClain would also announce his depature from the band as he wishes to avoid any legal troubles.[16] CJ would announce that he has been paying everyone working with him the amount that they deserve.[17] Despite all the issues, the band went ahead and released their fifth single titled "Showcase ov Phlegm" on March 15, 2024.[18]

The band finally released KING, their debut studio album on June 7, 2024.[19]
