Imran Tareen (Urdu: عمران ترین‎) is a Pakistani television, radio, theatre, stage, film actor and compere of Urdu and Pashto Language.[1][2]

Early life and education

Imran Tareen was born Imran Akhtar Tareen on 21 December 1978 to an ethnic Pashtun Muslim family of Tareen tribe from Pishin, Quetta, Balochistan, Pakistan.[2]

Imran Tareen received a Master's degree in International relations (IR), and Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from University of Balochistan, Quetta. He also received a Master's diploma in Photography from Balochistan Arts Council, Quetta.[2]

Acting career

He started his showbiz career in 1996 as a famous versatile baritone radio voice from Radio Pakistan Quetta as a drama artist and compere.[2]

His television debut was in (1997) with the Urdu drama serial Wapsi produced by Pakistan Television Corporation, Quetta center.[1][2]

Later, he made his film debut with the movie Abdullah: The Final Witness playing the protagonist as ASP Ali.[3][2]

The film Abdullah: The Final Witness was the only feature-length film selected for screening at the Festival de Cannes 2015 from Pakistan at the prestigious 68th annual Cannes Film Festival.[4]

He once again achieved success at the box office with the film based on true events Revenge of the Worthless, playing the antagonist turned protagonist as Janan Khan.[5][2]

He continued to work hard and was noticed when he secured first position in a Film Making workshop under American Film Showcase (AFS) on The Art of Cinematic Storytelling by USC School of Cinematic Arts, a program of U.S. Embassy State Department supporting partners International Documentary Association (IDA) and Hunerkada College of Visual and Performing Arts at Islamabad and Karachi. The teachers were Academy Award winner director Ted Braun and Emmy Award winner Marilyn Agrelo.[6][7][2]

Compere and host

As compere/host, he has done more than 100 national and international level shows Live.[1][2] He hosted and wrote shows like Youm-e-Shuhada,[8] FC Balochistan All Pakistan Ramzan T20 Cricket,[9][10] a 23 March Quaid-e-Azam Residency show with invited dignitaries including Commander Southern Command and XII Corps (Pakistan), Inspectors-General Frontier Corps Balochistan, Governor of Balochistan, Pakistan, Senators of Senate of Pakistan, Ministers of Cabinet of Pakistan, Chief Minister of Balochistan and President Pervez Musharraf's 2002 Pakistani referendum show.[11][12]
