In Full Bloom (2020 film)

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

In Full Bloom is an American sports neo-noir drama film written and directed by American filmmakers Adam VillaSenor and Reza Ghassemi. The film stars Tyler Wood and Yusuke Ogasawara as boxers from the United States and Japan respectively.

Japanese Champion, Masahiro, trains in the winter wilderness for his upcoming bout against the American challenger, Clint Sullivan. As Clint learns of the Yakuza's influence over the match, his memories of war, and his unborn son, make him fearful of losing everything. Pitted amongst political tensions, the fighters' parallel journeys will test the very limits of human spirit[1]. Timothy V. Murphy and Hiroyuki Watanabe play in supporting roles. Wylie Stateman served as supervising sound editor. Frequent Hans Zimmer collaborator, Andrew Kawczynski, scored the film[2][3].

The film had its world premiere at the 2019 Oldenburg International Film Festival, where it won the top prize, the German Independence Award[4][5]. The film also received the Award for Best First Feature[6].

The reception to the film has been overwhelmingly positive. As German paper, Nordwest-Zeitung stated, "one of the most spectacular world premieres of this year's Oldenburg Film Festival" and that the film, "is much more than a sports film, it goes beyond the boundaries of the genre and reaches an almost unreal philosophical height[7]."
