In Search of Walid Masood (Arabic: البحث عن وليد مسعود) is a novel by the Palestinian writer Jabra Ibrahim Jabra. It was published for the first time in 1978. It got second place in the top 100 Arab novels.

The novel, which is divided into 12 chapters, focuses on Walid Masood, a Palestinian rebel, Who has a history of resistance against the Zionist occupation in Palestine. He had many complex social relationships, and through these relationships, Jabra Ibrahim Jabra formed an outstanding personality of Walid Masood's character. Making her a legend by touching the secrets of the character’s love life and childhood in Palestine and its religious and political attitudes. The number of people in the novel varied, and Walid Masood was a composition of all the elements of the Arab man living his private life crossed paths with the details of his time.

This novel carries features of fiction modernity in the Arab world. In its format, it is unique until today, it is a point of convergence between the peculiarities of Arabic writing and the global novel. On the other hand, the novel “In search of Walid Masood” is a summary of Jabra Ibrahim Jabra's novelist career.[1]

The novel is one of Jabra’s most famous novels. Where "The discourse in this novel is about the Palestinian Walid Masood, who by his disappearance declares his symbolic existence and makes those around him look for themselves in the search for him. They determine their fate according to this research and Jabra Ibrahim Jabra may have exaggerated this a little or a lot”. The novel's speech monitors the range of social behaviors, values, and contradictions prevailing in Baghdadi society, this society is a symbol but a study and a novelist sample for the Arab society. “The novel can be described as a Soul-searching novel, and the search for entity and identity, and discuss the crisis of the place for the Palestinian in his alienation. It Explores the insides of people and their psychological and intellectual contradictions and describes a scene of the Palestinian intellectual's loss and suffering”.
