Incontrol (sometimes stylized as InControl) is a 2017 Canadian sci-fi horror film by writer-director Kurtis David Harder. The film was selected as a Top 10 Audience Favourite at the Calgary International Film Festival.[1]

A group of college students discover a machine that allows them to control their peers.

Reception[edit]

On review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes the film has an approval rating of 80% based on 5 critics, with an average rating of 7/10.[2]

Joey Keogh of Wicked Horror said that "[T]his is a restrained, stylish and thought-provoking slice of sci-fi horror".[3]

Kat Hughes of The Hollywood News said in her closing comments that "[t]he end result is a half-baked Flatliners meets Being John Malkovich".[4]

Shawn Loeffler of Yell! Magazine called the film a "slow-paced thriller that only begins to explore the darker side of what human behavior might be if no one were watching". He also commented that the film have an "excellent story", and therefore, "very watchable".[5]

Anton Bitel of SciFi Now, who attended London FrightFest Film Festival at the time, wrote: "[InControl is] ambiguous and elliptical, a speculative poem".[6]

Mondo Squallido of Nerdly called the film a "a very enjoyable piece of Canadian sci-fi cinema".[7]
