Indian El clasico was the football match between Kerala Blasters FC and ATK. The rivalry between these two teams started in 2014 when the Indian Super League was started. The matches witnessed large audience attendance and rivalry between patrons. The first match was played on October 2014.
The two clubs currently meet at least 2 times a year, twice in the Indian Super League.
Both teams have huge and dedicated fan bases around the world.
Origins
Kerala blasters is the most supported club in India and one of the clubs in the world having a big fan base called manjappada[1]. ATK also have a big fan support from the starting.
Kerala have a long, heated century-long rivalry with Bengal starting from Santhosh Trophy. Blasters and ATK rivalry started from 2014 finals, where ATK triumphed victorious in add-on time. Both clubs again met in the 2016 finals and again Blasters had gone down fighting in penalties
2014 Indian super League final
On 20 December 2014, Kerala Blasters played against ATK in Indian Super League final at Mumbai. The game became goalless during the 90 minutes and went on to add-on time. In the fifth minute of the add-on time Mohammed Rafique (footballer) scored the winning goal for ATK and they were crowned champions. The thousands of Kerala Blasters fans went out of the stadium with tears, this made rivalry between them
2016 Indian super League final
Again Blasters and ATK come head to head in the 2016 Indian Super League Final. The match was played in front of the thousands of Kerala Blasters fans at home. Blasters take the lead in the first half by the super header of Keralite Mohammed Rafi (footballer). ATK level up the score in the 44th minute by Henrique Sereno. After the game went on to extra time but the score retained as 1-1. So penalties confirmed the winners. ATK beat Kerala Blasters on penalties[2]. This made the rivalry between the clubs stronger
