The Indigenous and Social Alternative Movement (Spanish: Movimiento Alternativo Indígena y Social; or MAIS) is a Colombian political party, born within the National Indigenous Organization of Colombia, with an indigenous, progressive and agrarian ideology.
History
It was founded in 2013 in the caucano municipality of Santander de Quilichao. On March 9, 2014, in the Colombian legislative elections, the party won a seat in the Senate of the Republic of Colombia with Luis Evelis Andrade. On March 11, 2018, in the Colombian legislative elections, MAIS won with Feliciano Valencia a seat of the indigenous constituency in the Senate; he also won two seats in the House of Representatives with Abel David Jaramillo Largo for the indigenous constituency, and with César Pachón as a representative for Boyacá.
