Inquérito is a Brazilian rap group formed in Nova Odessa, São Paulo, in 1999.
History[edit]
Inquérito was formed in 1999 by the eponymous Renan Inquérito.[1][2] The initial lineup consisted of Inquérito, as well as DJ Rodrigo, Nicole and Pop Black. They played several shows in the Campinas region until finding popularity with the release of their first album, Mais Loco que u Barato, in 2005, produced by Fábio Macari[3] and featuring guest appearances from fellow groups Sistema Negro and Realidade Cruel. The LP was nominated in three categories in the 2006 hip-hop awards show Prêmio Hutúz, eventually winning Song of the Year with "Dia dos Pais".[4]
The song "Dia dos Pais" was so successful that it was the most-played song on 105 FM for an entire month, and it appeared at Espaço Rap 11.[3] In 2008, the group released their second studio album, titled Um Segundo é Pouco.[1] Partnered with the Fundo de Investimento à Cultura de Campinas, it featured singer Kiko Santana and poet Sérgio Vaz. While the previous record earned three nominations, this one earned four.[5]
The group's sixth album, titled Tungstênio, was released in March 2018, and featured guest appearances from Zeca Baleiro, Tulipa Ruiz, Mato Seco, Rashid, Diomedes Chinaski and Nicole; in addition to Luís Travassos, Portuguese fado singer, Angolan rapper MCK and New Zealand singer LAWN.[1]
