"Inside Out" is a song by Camila Cabello from her debut solo studio album Camila (2018). Written by Cabello, Starrah, Frank Dukes, T-Minus, and Kaan Güneşberk whilst production was handled by Frank Dukes, T-Minus and Louis Bell, it was intended to be released as a promotional single by Epic Records, with a promotional smart link made on January 12, 2018 by the record label for separate music marketing.[1]
Musically, "Inside Out" is a tropical-pop song. Lyrically, the song has been described as a "summer love song". The song received generally positive reviews from music critics, who commended its production. "Inside Out" debuted at 92 in Portugal.
Critical reception[edit]
The Atlantic pointed out that, "Yet it’s in the uptempo material when Cabello’s approach best pays off. "Inside Out" is the logical "Havana" follow up, with a jolting piano pattern and pillow-padded dancehall beat in line with the "trop pop" trend of the past few years. It’s nice to hear Cabello recenter that sound’s lineage with dips into Spanish, but the key is the chorus, a quick little flutter of notes. The arrangement is humid enough already—no need for Cabello to break a sweat."[2]
Rolling Stone stated that, "She gets intimate in the reggaeton lilt of "She Loves Control" or the light tropical steel-drum breeze of "Inside Out," where she swerves between English and Spanish."[3]
