Islam is the second largest religion in India. In 2017, India had 189,000,000 Muslims (followers of Islam). India ranks third on the list of countries with the largest Muslim population, after Indonesia and Pakistan.[1]
Indian Culture

Islam arrived in Northern India in the 12th century through Turkic invasions, which created the Delhi Sultanate, and since then has been part of India's religious and cultural heritage. Over the centuries, especially during the Mughal Empire, there has been significant integration of Muslim cultures across India, and Muslims have played an important role in India's economy, politics and culture. However, in later times, during specific eras, terrible conflicts broke out between Hindu and Muslim communities, such as, for example, during the 1947 Independence and Partition of British India.[3][4] The largest caste of Muslims in India is the Shaikh caste, with 5 largest clans like Biradari, Milki, Abbasi, Bahlim and Hashmi.
