ItalPresseGauss (IPG), a multinational manufacturer of light metal casting equipment operates as a subsidiary of Norican Group.
Dedicated to manufacturing equipment for die casting, complemented by allied services and digital products, ItalPresseGauss seamlessly integrates advanced engineering with ergonomic design, empowering customers to optimise their manufacturing workflows, reduce waste, and elevate their products to new heights of excellence.
History[edit]
The roots of ItalPresseGauss trace back to the founding of Italpresse Industrie in 1969 in Capriano del Colle, Brescia, Northern Italy. In the same years, Gauss Automazione developed a groundbreaking automated system capable of conveying molten aluminum from a holding furnace[1] to a high pressure die-casting machine[2].
The turning point came in 1975 when Italpresse Industrie and Gauss Automazione joined forces to create the first automated die-casting cell[3]. Recognising the potential for greater synergy, the two companies decided to merge culminating in the birth of ItalPresseGauss.
Further shaping the company's trajectory, in May 2017, the Norican Group stepped in to acquire ItalPresseGauss, cementing its position in the industry. In the same strategic move, Norican Group also acquired furnace manufacturer StrikoWestofen, further strengthening their expertise and portfolio.
Mission and Vision[edit]
ItalPresseGauss has been providing the light metal casting industry with high-quality equipment and flexible solutions for over half a century. Their drive to meet specific customer needs, constantly innovate, and to provide adaptable technology and support services that seamlessly optimise the aluminium casting process is what sets them apart.
Headquarters[edit]
Situated in Brescia, Northern Italy, ItalPresseGauss's headquarters and main manufacturing center serve as the core of its operations.
Products[edit]
Specialising in various casting techniques, ItalPresseGauss is renowned for manufacturing and maintaining equipment tailored for high-pressure die casting (HPDC), gravity die casting (GDC)[4] and low pressure die casting (LPDC)[5]. While the company's products primarily find application in aluminum casting, they are also commonly utilised for casting other light metals like magnesium and zinc.
High pressure die casting[edit]
ItalPresseGauss offers two types of HPDC machines: toggle-free (TFs Smart Series) machines[7], [8] and IP machines with toggle[9]. The TFs series features die closing forces ranging between 1400 and 11000 tonnes, the larger closing forces being particularly suited to casting larger structural components linked to developments in e-mobility/electric cars.
The IP machines with toggle offer die closing forces ranging between 300 and 1350 tonnes.
Both types of machine can be provided as standalone equipment or as part of a fully automated, complete casting cell.
Gravity die casting[edit]
The gravity die casting (GDC) process is instrumental in producing dense, strong, and stiff castings. ItalPresseGauss supplies its GDC machines either individually[6] or as multiple machines combined in three automated configurations: carousel[7], linear cell[8] or flexible cell[9].
Low pressure die casting[edit]
Incorporating the low-pressure die casting (LPDC) process, ItalPresseGauss ensures precise control of die cavity filling. This method facilitates rapid and smooth molten metal flow through feeding conduits, reducing oxide formation and preventing porosity.
Other products[edit]
ItalPresseGauss excels in designing, supplying, and installing automatic work cells[10], [11] tailored for foundries. These versatile cells can be fully automated through the integration of robotics and encompass all essential peripheral devices required for light metal casting, ranging from dosing furnaces.[12] to automatic deburring[13].
Digital products[edit]
Innovation extends to digital offerings from ItalPresseGauss, including the Monitizer Monitizer[14] platform and HMe control system[15].
Moreover, ItalPresseGauss showcases their commitment to sustainability with their ECO-FIT [16] energy efficiency technology. This solution regulates the machines' hydraulic pumps, effectively reducing energy consumption, hydraulic fluid temperatures, and noise levels.
Global centers[edit]
ItalPresseGauss boasts a widespread network of service centres across various countries, including China, Mexico and the United States. Additionally, the company has a dedicated manufacturing facility in China.
China[edit]
In Changzhou, China, ItalPresseGauss operates its manufacturing centre under the umbrella of the parent company, Norican Group[17]. At this centre, the company produces both GDC and HPDC machines.
Target Customers[edit]
ItalPresseGauss's target customers are foundries and metal casting companies of all sizes and scales, such as automotive, electronics, domestic heating, telecom, motors, household appliances, industrial equipment and so on, seeking high-quality and customisable solutions to enhance production process.
