StrikoWestofen stands as a leading global manufacturer of melting and dosing furnace solutions for the light metal casting industry. Their commitment lies in providing energy-efficient solutions tailored for die-casting, gravity casting, sand casting, and low-pressure casting applications
Having over 6 decades of experience, StrikoWestofen has gained extensive industrial knowledge, enabling it understand the unique needs and manufacturing processes of valued customers. This profound understanding empowers StrikoWestofen to seamlessly integrate systems into the respective production processes, ensuring optimal performance and unmatched value for clients.
History[edit]
The company's history dates back to the foundation of Strikfeldt & Co. in 1948 and Westofen GmbH in 1950, both in Germany. In 1998, they merged to become StrikoWestofen.
In 1999, StrikoWestofen expanded its portfolio by acquiring Dynarad[1], an instrumentation manufacturer.
In May 2017, Norican Group purchased StrikoWestofen along with ItalPresseGauss.
Mission and Vision[edit]
With over 60 years of experience, StrikoWestofen' s extensive expertise and industrial knowledge keeps the company committed to understanding the needs and manufacturing processes of customers. This enables StrikoWestofen seamlessly achieve their goal of providing highly-sustainable technological solutions to consume less energy and resources, minimize costs per casting to increase profits, generate fewer emissions and radically reduce waste.
Headquarters[edit]
The company's headquarters are located in Wiehl, Germany.
Products[edit]
StrikoWestofen' s product range includes melting, holding, and dosing furnaces [2], used in light metal foundries for various casting methods with aluminum, magnesium, and zinc alloys.[3]
Melting and holding furnaces[edit]
Melting furnaces like the StrikoMelter PUREFFICIENCY [4] are designed to melt light metal ingots, bars, chips, and scrap.
Holding furnaces[5] [6] store molten metal before casting.
More recently the company has developed a solution - ‘LeanMelter’ - specifically for ‘giant’ or ‘mega’ casting applications, primarily used for servicing the e-mobility/electric vehicles sector.
In contrast to traditional set-ups, LeanMelter puts melting, holding and dosing together in the casting cell itself. This is considered more efficient for supplying the larger volumes of metal required by giant casting machines.
Dosing furnaces[edit]
Dosing furnaces like the Westomat[4], ensure precise feeding of liquid metal to the casting system.
Transport[edit]
StrikoWestofen also manufactures transport systems, such as the Schnorkle[5], used to transfer liquid metal between melting, holding/dosing furnaces, and casting systems. Heated launder systems [6] facilitate the gravity flow transfer of molten metal between different locations.
Digital products[edit]
The company offers digital products, including ProDos3 dosing furnace control software[7], Refill Monitor application[8], and the Monitizer Industry 4.0 platform[9].
Global centers[edit]
With a global presence, StrikoWestofen has centres in Germany (Gummersbach and Wiehl), China (Taicang), and the USA (Zeeland, Michigan).
Target Customers[edit]
Operating on a global scale, StrikoWestofen's target customers are bases worldwide wherever there is demand for advanced thermal processing technology for non-ferrous metals. Their target customers are primarily businesses and industries involved in the production of castings made from these metals. This includes sectors such as automotive manufacturing, aerospace, aluminium casting, die-casting, and various other industrial foundries.
Media Coverage[edit]
Marcin Suwala, Chief Operating Officer of LENAAL[10] (an aluminium and zinc alloy die casting specialist company based in Poland), spoke about how integrating digital solutions from StrikoWestofen resulted in a streamlined production process[11], time-saving, and significant efficiency gains due to the elimination of machine downtime in their production process.
