Ivan Jakúbek (November 22, 1978, Bratislava) is an investor and business strategist. He focuses on the global ambitions and long-term growth potential of companies.[1]

He recognized the growth potential of software and technology companies in the early 2000s, which helped him with his successful investment in AVG (now Avast).[2] The company then reached a valuation of almost 900 million dollars with its IPO (Initial Public Offering) on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) in 2012.[3] The value of the company further increased before it was bought by Avast in 2016 for 1.3 billion dollars.[4]

Since 2005, Jakúbek has served as a private equity specialist at Enterprise Investors, where he has been involved in +50 investments and accretive acquisitions.[5] For example, the Czech company Kofola increased its market share by more than 25%[6] and on the Warsaw and Prague Stock Exchanges valued the company at almost 500 million dollars.[7]

After a career in private equity, he moved to Group's Chief Corporate Development Officer in 2017 and later to the Chief Strategy Officer role at W.A.G. payment solutions, a technology company (EUROWAG)[8] [9] in 2021. During this period, the company made accretive acquisitions of several tech companies such as Inelo[10], Last Mile Solutions[11], JitPay[12] and Sygic.[13] EUROWAG achieved a valuation of more than $1.2 billion (£1.03 billion) in 2021.[14]  The company later became a constituent of the FTSE 250 index.[15]

Ivan Jakúbek was born in Bratislava, Slovakia. He graduated from the Faculty of National Economy at the University of Economics in Bratislava. During studies he specialised in finance, banking and investments. During studies at Ghent University, he focused on applied econometry in banking, finance and portfolio management, what motivated his further carrier. Further he enhanced his leadership and product management skills with executive education at London Business School and University of Berkeley.
