Ivan Mok
Ivan Mok is a Chinese Vietnamese-American actor best known for his role as Tuan Eckert in The Americans (2017)[1], Drew Edmonson in FBI International (2021), and Oscar in Young Sheldon (2022)[2]. He is also known for his work voicing Cha Hyun-soo in the Sweet Home (TV series) English dub, and Cherry in the Words Bubble Up Like Soda Pop 2021 English dub.
Early life
Mok was raised in the San Gabriel Valley in Los Angeles, California and studied communications at UCLA while frequenting auditions for commercial and television work.[1] His father, an attendant for the L.A. County Metropolitan Transportation Authority, would take him to acting classes, where he eventually found his way to The Young Actor’s Studio in North Hollywood, Los Angeles.[1]
Career
In 2017, for his breakout role in The Americans fifth season as Tuan[3], a South Vietnamese war refugee and spy acting as the adopted son of the Jennings' cover identities, Mok drew inspiration from his own mother's refugee story as part of the thousands of "boat people" who fled the country nearly 40 years ago.[1]
Mok currently plays the role of Oscar in Young Sheldon as one of Sheldon's new college dorm neighbors.[2]
