Ray Tan (陳學沿 Ray Tan Seok Yuan; born March 15, 1989), better known as Raytansy, is a Malaysian actor and director of Chinese descent. He is best known for his role as recurring Mongolian Court Eunuch in Netflix Marco Polo (TV series) (2014). He is also founder and Chief Executive Officer of SAN MediaCo (Southeast Asian Network Media Company) Malaysia based media news and entertainment company.
Early life
Ray was born in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. His paternal grandparents are from Fuzhou, China while his father, Dragan Tan and mother, Flora Tee, was born and raised in Malaysia.
He later enrolled in a college and majored in multimedia studies. After graduates he work in Tv & Film industries as a programme editor and designer at Kuala Lumpur
Ray is fluent in Mandarin, English and Malay. He currently lives in Singapore.
Career
While as a film crew member, Ray began his career incidentally after he join into Netflix Marco Polo (TV series) casting department who were looking for a cast role to do a Mongolian for a look over, Ray booked the recurring court eunuch as Kublai Khan emperor in Marco Polo (TV series) with all the main cast filming in Pinewood Studio Iskandar Malaysia . This started his first acting career in Hollywood. Shortly afterwards he began acting at Warner Bros. Pictures Crazy Rich Asians (Film) in Singapore.

Origins
Ray felt that acting was not his only passion even after landing roles. His passion was to change the industry’s standards and expectations of tv & film. In 2019, he set up SAN MediaCo to push for better recognition and representation of Southeast Asia market. He advocated for standard practices in the entertainment industry. SAN MediaCo is one of the Southeast Asia’s largest media news and entertainment company.
