Derick Obuobie Jnr (born August 27, 1994), known professionally as J.Derobie, is a Ghanaian singer and songwriter.[1] He was born in Yendi and raised in Nungua.[2] J.Derobie released his debut single "Poverty" through Mr Eazi's funding and mentorship program emPawa100; the visuals for the song amassed one million views on YouTube within a month of its release.[3][4]
Life and music Career[edit]
J.Derobie was born in Yendi, a town in the Northern Region of Ghana. He began to develop interest in dancing and singing at the age of 13.[5] He attended Dagbon Stage Senior High School in Yendi.[6]
J.Derobie released his debut single "Poverty" through Mr Eazi's funding and mentorship program emPawa100.[7] The visuals for the song garnered one million views on YouTube. Jamaican singer Popcaan was featured on the remix of "Poverty".[8] J.Derobie was endorsed by Ghanaian musicians such as Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy and Samini.[9]
