J2-L192 Distribution Map

In human genetics, Haplogroup J2-L192 is a Y-chromosome haplogroup which is a subclade (branch) of haplogroup J-M172

Scope

The defining SNP, L192.2 was first found by Engineer Thomas Krahn in 2010,^[1] through the Y chromosome project,^[2] conducted by Family Tree DNA in a sample belonging to a man from Msaken, Tunisia from the Al Gazzah Family. It was then found in the next years (2010 to 2016) in a lot of other male DNA samples from different countries of the world.

J2-L192 has so far two known subclades based on last BigY^[3] Next Generation SNP testing conducted by Family Tree DNA:

- J2-L271 found only in Msaken, Tunisia and among the Msaken diaspora in France.
- J2-FGC30635 :
  - J2-Z33995 and Z33976: Turkey, Armenia, Saudi Arabia, Iraq ...
    - J2-Z42815,Z42816,Z42817,42818,Z42819 : Iraq and Russia
  - J2-FGC30649
    - J2-L534 : this sub clade was found among Syrian Christians group in Kerala, India and also in a Sample from Sri Lanka tested by 1000 Genome project.
