Background
Jake Peralta was born on June 20th, 1981 and was raised by his mother when his father walked out, giving him abandonment issues.

He is best friends with Charles Boyle.
Personality

Storyline
Season One
Initially we meet Peralta as a talented yet immature and competitive detective, who also has some issues after his father walked out. He and then partner Amy Santiago have a bet to see who can arrest more felons in a year. In The Bet, he wins the bet and forces her to go on the worst date ever with him, during which he realises he may have feelings for her.
In Charges and Specs, he gets suspended from the NYPD and goes undercover for the FBI right before he confesses his feelings to Amy, stating that he wished something could happen between them.
Season Two
In Undercover, he returns from his mission and starts to sort things out with those around him, including resolving things with Amy and a slightly bitter Charles.
