Biography[edit]
Early life[edit]
Jade Leslie Holland (born 16 December 1989) was born in Mareeba, QLD to parents, Mark Leslie Holland and Kerry Ann Holland with one brother, Mitchell Mark Holland.
Musical career[edit]
Shandell Tosoni was an early influence. At the age of 12 years old, Holland told her mother that she wanted to be just like Tosoni, only to hear her mum say, "That's good; I don't think you can sing, though." Holland’s family's musical background: "Mum can sing karaoke after a couple of wines, Dad plays a mean air guitar after a couple of Jacks, but my Nan's the only one—she's got perfect pitch, she's a hairdresser by trade and she was asked to teach at the Conservatorium in Sydney, and she said 'no'. Primary School: Biboorah State Primary School.
Started performing: 11 years old I started singing and playing, my first song ever sang on stage was at an open mic night that was held by the Walkamin Country Music Club. First Professional Gig: First gig was when I was 14, my duo partner Darren had a gig at the Atherton International Club and I joined him there on a regular basis. First song: 16 years old, wrote at high school, it was called I’m Gonna Fly (lived on our property half way between Mareeba and Kuranda) it was about breaking free from a bad relationship and people who weigh you down.
Holland was signed to Thumb Print Music in the UK at 23 years of age. Like so many young and aspiring artists before her, Holland signed on for a bogus deal. Holland released her first album 'Leather and Les Paul on 6 November 2015. Holland teamed up with Nashville songwriters and producers Phil Barton and Brad Winters and the end result was her second album Dream Wild released on 3 August 2018. Unlike her 2015 debut album Leather & Les Paul where Holland only contributed to half the tracks, she co-wrote every song on the album, including hooky lead single Drive Thru.
2019 kicked off with First Prize at the 15th Annual IAMA (International Acoustic Music Awards) with her track, ‘That’s The Wine’. Hailing from Townsville and, after the recent devastating floods, Holland returned home from her Bon Voyage tour and saw first-hand her family and friends lives on the lawn. In a few hours she had mobilized 2 other local song writers Tammy Moxon and Dean Gilboy who collaborated with her & they wrote the track “Lives on the Lawn.” The single received airplay across the HIT FM and KIX Country networks. This was closely followed by the release of the Busby Marou remix of “Lives on the Lawn” gaining airplay across the Triple M Regional Network.
Signed to Queensland Music Agency, The Pushworth Group, and to The Manick Label, Holland is one of Australia's hardest working music artists as she began to share the stage with artists like GANGgajang, James Blundell, Rick Price, Rob Thomas and Toni Childs.
Holland was one of the first Music Artists to tour post COVID Lockdowns in 2020 in her Resilience Tour as part of her ambassadorship with Mental Awareness Foundation. Touring Regional Queensland with the team from Mental Awareness Foundation, Holland's work shone a spotlight on the mental health challenges that faces regional Queensland as they recovered from the COVID lockdowns. Making history, her video for her single, Fight For It, was recorded live at the Walk for Awareness event in Brisbane on Sunday 10 October 2021 featuring the walkers and volunteers as her choir.
"Fight For It"reached number one on the Australian Country Radio charts on 21 October 2021.
Causes[edit]
Holland is a huge advocate for the RSPCA and the Australian Mitochondrial Disease Foundation. She is ambassador for Sealink Townsville as she believes that Magnetic Island is a location that is highly underrated and likes to encourage everyone to visit there with their families. Holland is also the ambassador for Suncity Harley Davidson, a locally family owned business in Townsville. She is also the ambassador for the Townsville Women’s Basketball Team called the Townsville Fire. They like to support the youth to chase their dreams. I love this! Holland is passionate about everything North Queensland (Magnetic Island) Jade was the 2020 Ambassador for Mental Awareness Foundation and toured Regional Queensland on her Resilience Tour throughout September and October in 2020 culminating in her performance at the annual Walk for Awareness in Brisbane.
Holland donated proceeds of her song “Lives on the Lawn” to assist raising funds for the Townsville community after devastating floods in 2018.
All profits from her song "Fight For It" (the official anthem for the 2021 Walk for Awareness, was released 8 October 2021, go to the Mental Awareness Foundation.
