Jago Gaon is a non-governmental organization based in New Delhi, India. It was established in 2010 and has a presence in 6 Indian states (Delhi, Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Chhattisgarh).[1][2] As of 2020, Jago Gaon reaches around 20,000 families. The Jago Gaon works in the field of Education & Awareness, Health & Hygiene, Water Conservation & Agriculture and Rural Tourism & Arts through various programs. Jago Gaon was founded by Somesh Kumar Choudhary, who is currently the President of the Organization.
History
Founded in 2010, by Somesh Kumar Choudhary, a young journalist who quit a well-paid and lucrative job as a reporter in one of the prestigious media houses of India. Since its foundation, Jago Gaon has touched the lives of thousands of underprivileged children, women and elderly citizens through its various initiatives and programs. It also registered a publication house namely Rajpath Publication. To promote awareness among villagers, Jago Gaon also conducted workshops on Menstrual Hygiene, Cataract Check-Ups, Career Counseling etc. Along with that, Jago Gaon also launched various campaigns to eradicate superstition, regressive and outdated customs like child marriage, untouchability and devi-khelana etc. In 2019-2020 Jago Gaon has done significant work in the rejuvenation and revival of dumped wells in Damodarpur Panchayat and also initiated a campaign to plant trees for ground water conservation.

Major Initiatives
Sant Kabir Vridha Ashram:[3] - Founded in 2011 to give shelter to elderly parents abandoned by their children. Since then it has touched the lives of at least 120 such parents. Jago Gaon Public School:- Founded in the same year, 2010, with a vision to provide basic elementary education to underprivileged children. Jago Gaon ITI:[4] - Founded in that year to promote vocational education among rural youth. Rajpath Publication:- Since its inception, the publication has successfully published many books like JNU Adda. Menstrual Hygiene Awareness:[5] - To eradicate the taboo regarding menstrual hygiene, Jago Gaon has launched many campaigns through digital media, audio-visual mediums, and organized many debates, speeches and drawing competitions among students of schools and colleges. Jago Gaon also organizes an annual workshop since its inception in 2010 on 28th May Menstrual Hygiene Day and invites many distinguished and esteemed guests to debate and discuss.
