Jama Taqseem is a Pakistani television series centred on the dark sides of a traditional joint family household. It revolves around on a typical joint family who is torn-off after the marriage of youngest son when his wife try to find her place in it. Written by Sarwat Nazir, the series features an ensemble cast of Mawra Hocane, Talha Chahour, Jawed Sheikh, Beo Raana Zafar, Madiha Rizvi, Hassan Ahmed, Tazeen Hussain and Deepak Parwani.[1]
Plot
The series begins from Laila, a Master of Business Administration graduate and the only daughter of a wealthy family, who proposes her fellow Qais, the youngest son of a middle-class family. Qais tells Laila that after marriage, he will have to live with his parents, two brothers Majeed and Hameed, and their children. Since Laila's parents are often busy, she has always wanted to marry into a joint family where all relatives are present. Initially, both families are reluctant to accept the relationship, but due to Laila and Qais's persistence, they eventually get married.
However, after a few days of marriage, Laila realizes that Qais's family has different values and thinking. Joint family issues, such as interference in each other's lives, quarrels over food, the burden of household chores, and the interference of Qais's married sister Nudrat, create problems for Laila, particularly in doing household chores like washing clothes.
Hameed's son Zeeshan, harasses his cousin and Majeed's daughter Sidra, and the family's indifferences to it especially her Rashida who has completely ignored her daughters due to her household works. When Laila tries to address it, she faces difficulties. Laila and Qais had a fight over household issues, and Laila demands a separate home.

Production
In June 2025, it reported that Hocane and Chahour will play the leads in Ali Hasan's directed Jama Taqseem.[5]
Reception
Gaitee Ara Siddiqi of The News International praised the series for its relatable portrayal of a joint family household, engaging dialogues, excellent direction, screenplay, and performances of the leads.[6]
Maliha Rehman of The Dawn described that, the series is "a tough watch — but it is well-directed, well-written, well-performed and, most importantly, it mirrors society".[7]
Controversy
Writer Sarwat Nazir was accused by another fellow writer, Misbah Ali Syed, for plagiarising her novel Kaanch Se Saiban, stating that many characters, situations, and emotional arcs in Jama Taqseem closely resemble those from her novel.[8]
