James Joseph Lukezic (born August 23, 1977) is an American investment advisor. He is the managing principal and executive managing director of Old Slip Capital Partners.[1]
Early life and education
Lukezic was born in Grimsby, Ontario, Canada. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Policy Analysis and Management from Cornell University in 2000. From 2000 to 2003, he was a visiting lecturer at Princeton University at the Woodrow Wilson School of Politics.
Career
Lukezic has worked in finance for more than 25 years and is the managing principal and chief executive officer of Old Slip Capital Partners, an investment advisory firm based in New York City. He started his career at Merrill Lynch & Co., where he participated in the Junior Executive Training Program in New York.[2] In 2000, James was selected to join as a Financial Analyst in the Offshore Funds and Private Investor Sales Division.
In 2004, Lukezic completed his Executive Education in Marketing at the Harvard Business School in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
In 2005, Lukezic joined Citigroup Global Markets as an Institutional Consultant. Throughout the 2000’s, he held positions at Bank of America and Wells Fargo as a Relationship Manager and Retirement Plan Consultant, serving corporate clients and individuals of wealth.[2] In 2014, Lukezic served as Director of Investments at Oppenheimer & Co. Inc., where he focused on providing corporate retirement plan services and consulting high-net-worth Individuals.[2]
In 2018, Lukezic completed a transaction that saw Old Slip Capital purchase the Broker-Dealer arm of CNA Insurance in Chicago, Illinois, and now stands as Managing Principal and CEO of Old Slip Capital Group of Companies, which includes a Broker-Dealer, Registered Investment Advisory Firm, and an Insurance Agency, based out of New York City.[2][3][4][5]
In 2024, Lukezic expanded his Insurance side operation, purchasing two Allstate Insurance agencies in Westchester, New York. He is now in a legal dispute with Allstate in Manhattan’s federal court and in a lawsuit with FINRA over a connected issue, with the FINRA case being held in the District of Columbia’s Federal Court.[6][7][8]
Philanthropy
Lukezic is the Chairman of the International Trust Fund or ITF USA, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that assists landmine victims in over 30 countries worldwide. He also chairs The Lukezic Family Foundation (www.lukezic.org), a New York City-based non-profit, helping children in need, especially those with one parent.[9] The foundation organizes an annual charity gala dinner hosted by Lukezic.[10][11]
Personal life
Previously of Manhattan, Lukezic lives in Greenwich, Connecticut, with his spouse, Anastasia Evans, daughter Charlotte Sloane Lukezic and son Maximillian Montgomery Lukezic.
Lukezic is an avid golfer. He played Varsity Soccer at Cornell University in the Ivy League and also played professionally from 1998-1999 in the Slovenian Premier League.[12] He was a member of the Slovenian under-23 Olympic team before a career-ending MCL knee injury in a friendly match against Croatian side Pula in 1999. He is also a member of the United States Polo Association, the New York City's Fencers Club, the American Helicopter Society, the Down Town Association, and the Cornell Club of New York.
