Jan Johnstone is a school trustee and former Chair with the Bluewater District School Board, and has been a Canadian political candidate for the NDP both federally and now provincially in Ontario.[1]
Background[edit]
Johnstone lives in Kincardine, Ontario with her husband Gord.[2] They have two daughters, Jalene and Alex.[3] She has a master's degree in Social Welfare Policy from McMaster and has begun work on her doctorate in education.[2] Additional to her role as school trustee, Johnstone serves on the Ontario Public School Boards Association with her daughter Alex.[4] She has experience as a university teaching assistant and a CUPE union member.[3]
Johnstone is the Huron—Bruce candidate for the Ontario NDP in the 2014 Ontario General Election. Previously she ran for the New Democrats in Huron—Bruce in the 1997 federal election.[5] Daughter Alex is also a candidate in the 2014 Ontario Election, representing the Ancaster—Dundas—Flamborough—Westdale district for the Ontario NDP.[3]
