Rick Peterson (born 1955 or 1956)[1] is a politician, businessman and former Conservative leadership candidate. He is the president and founder of Peterson Capital, an Edmonton based investment company.[2] Peterson has ran for the leadership of the Conservative Party of Canada twice (2020 and 2017).[3]
Early Career and Education[edit]
Peterson has a bachelors degree from the University of Alberta, as well as an honours graduate in Political Science and Economics from the Institute d'Etudes de Paris.[2] Peterson then worked as the Senior Vice-President of Midland Walwyn Capital, a now defunct Toronto-based investment brokerage firm.[4][2] He then went on to work for several banks, such as Merrill Lynch and HSBC.[2]
Peterson Capital[edit]
Peterson is the founder of Peterson Capital, an investment brokerage firm. Peterson Capital is the 6th largest capital investment company in Canada by investor connections.[5]
Political Positions[edit]
Peterson is a strong fiscal conservative, advocating for the abolition of the corporate tax and progressive income tax. He believes in a flat tax, and wants to raise the sales tax. He strongly supports the LGBTQ community, and is pro-choice.[3]
