Jason Dean (magician)
Jason Dean (born 1980) is an American magician. At a young age, he was described by Max Maven as someone "with the power to raise even the most jaded eyebrows". In Kansas City, Missouri, he won the title of "Closeup Magician of the Year" for four years running, from 2002 to 2005.
Biography[edit]
Dean is from Kansas City, Missouri. Regarded as both a performer and a creator of original effects, he has released several instructional DVDs, is a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians, and has been an invited speaker at such events as the Midwest Magic Jubilee, Sorcerers Safari Magic Camp and the Las Vegas Magic Invitational.
Dean is also an accomplished drummer who plays in the American rock band Sidewise. He has recorded and toured with his current band Sidewise for the past six years and has also been caught playing with Tracii Guns (L.A. Guns, Brides of Destruction, helped form Guns N' Roses). When in town Jason can be found playing with his cover band, Under The Covers with Frank Campobasso, Doug Kenworthy, and Denny Sipes. Jason and his band Sidewise recently returned from a very successful tour with Godsmack and Sevendust. “For me this was a dream tour, to be able to play nightly and see two of my drum hero’s Morgan Rose and Shannon Larkin beat it up… insane, these are my dudes!”
Jason studied drums with the infamous GoGo Ray (Samantha Fish), Henry Okstel (Department of Jazz Studies at the University of North Texas), and Rob Leytham (Writer for Modern Drummer Mag. and Mel Bay author of multiple books.) “These drummers right here have formed me along with other influences to become who I am today. Any praise I get, I owe to these gentleman.”
