Javier Gonzalez-Sanchez (born Oct 14, 1975) is a scholar who is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science and Software Engineering at the California State University system.[1]. Dr. Javier Gonzalez-Sanchez is a former Assistant Teaching Professor at Arizona State University[2] and a former Teaching Professor at Tecnologico de Monterrey.
He was named a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in 2017 a Senior Member of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) in 2014[3]. He is an ACM Distinguished Speaker since 2020 [4]. He was granted the Video Contest Award at the International Conference on Software Engineering in 2016[5]. He received the Centennial Professorship Award in 2019[6] granted by the Associated Students of Arizona State University to high-achieving faculty members who are leaders in their respective fields and in classroom learning and innovation.

Gonzalez-Sanchez holds a bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering with highest honors from the University of Guadalajara (1997), and a Master's in Electrical Engineering from CINVESTAV (2000) and a doctorate degree in Computer Science from Arizona State University (2016). His thesis was titled A Manufacturing Vision with a Software Product Line Paradigm. He has been a member of the faculty at the California State University system since 2022.
Gonzalez-Sanchez is a researcher in the field of human-centered computing. His research group develops tools, frameworks, and platforms to develop affect-driven systems. Applications of their research include tutoring systems, assistive technology, and video games [7].
He has published significant work in the areas of Adaptive Systems, Intelligent Interactive Systems, Software Engineering, and Computer Science Education [8]
