Javier Armando Herrera (born April 9, 1985) is a Venezuelan minor league baseball outfielder who is currently with the Trois-Rivieres Aigles in the Canadian-American Association. He has been highly touted, appearing on multiple top prospect rankings.[citation needed]

He was signed by scout Julio Franco of the Oakland Athletics in July 2001. He made his pro debut for the DSL Athletics East the next summer. In 2003, with the AZL Athletics, he hit .230 in 17 games. With the Vancouver Canadians in 2004, he hit .331 with 12 home runs and 23 stolen bases in 65 games, earning a spot on the Northwest League's Post-Season All-Star team and the league's Most Valuable Player honor. Prior to the 2005 season, Baseball America ranked him the 68th-best prospect in minor league baseball and the 2nd-best prospect in the Athletics system. He played for the Kane County Cougars (94 games) and Sacramento River Cats (five games) that year, hitting a combined .280 with 14 home runs and 27 stolen bases. He made the Midwest League's Mid- and Post-Season All-Star teams and was also a Futures Game selection. He was ranked the 74th-best prospect in baseball - and the 2nd best prospect in the Oakland chain[1] - by Baseball America prior to 2006, but he missed that entire season. Baseball Prospectus ranked him the 97th-best prospect in baseball prior to 2007, while Baseball America named him the 6th-best prospect in the Athletics system. In 2007 he hit a combined .269 with 12 home runs and 12 stolen bases for the Stockton Ports and Midland RockHounds.

In 2008, he played for Midland, hitting .267 with nine home runs and eight stolen bases in 61 games. He began 2009 with Midland and played in only one game. He played in 14 games for the independent Yuma Scorpions in 2010, hitting .368 with two home runs and 14 RBI. He did not play in 2011. He played for the Rockford RiverHawks and Southern Illinois Miners of the independent Frontier League in 2012 and hit a combined .319 with 14 home runs and 78 RBI in 93 games. He returned to affiliated baseball in 2013 after signing a contract with the San Francisco Giants. Playing for their Double-A squad, the Richmond Flying Squirrels, he hit .296 with 16 home runs, 37 doubles, 74 RBI and 23 stolen bases in 131 games, leading the Eastern League in doubles. He was an Eastern League Mid- and Post-Season All-Star.[2]

On November 20, 2014, Herrera re-signed a minor league contract with the San Francisco Giants.
