Jay Karales (born October 23, 1990), commonly known under the stage name LowRes Wünderbred, is a Greek-American comedian, director, actor, and writer.

Early life[edit]

Karales was born in Boston, Massachusetts.

Career[edit]

Karales started a YouTube channel January 22, 2017 under the pseudonym LowRes Wünderbred. From 2017 to 2020, Karales as LowRes Wünderbred released several comedy skits[1] with the Boston sketch group Headshot, LLC. and would write, direct, and edit a number of short documentaries about unmade and lost films that would garner attention in the film press. The short documentary series Deconstructing Cary Fukunaga's IT received glowing reviews in popular film news outlets SlashFilm[2]and Digital Spy.[3] Filmmaker Magazine would go on to cover his short documentary on David Lynch's unmade One Saliva Bubble and how it influenced Lynch's eventual series Twin Peaks.[4]

In 2018 Karales was attached to write and direct an adaptation of the 1988 George V. Higgins short story collection Sins of the Fathers.

In 2019, Karales directed the first season of the sketch comedy series CMFRT_SYSTMS, written by and starring the Boston based comedy troupe Headshot, LLC.

Production started in March 2020 on Karales's feature directorial debut Mass State Lottery starring the members of Headshot, LLC., Buddy Duress, Jake Hanrahan, and Yuna Kim. The film wrapped principle photography in November 2021 after being paused due to lockdowns.
