Biography[edit]

Jay Alexander Torres Cuevas was born in Carolina, Puerto Rico, where he performed in the arts and played sports.[1][2][3][4] He was part of the Saint Francis School, located in Carolina, male basketball team.[5] In 2016, Torres graduated with a BS in biomedical sciences from Liberty University[6][7] and holds a Master in psychology.[2] As a model he was Mister Supranational North Carolina 2018,[8] photographed by Travis Lane, modelled for Aronik Swimwear and has been represented by The Industry Model Management in Miami.[2] He started his career as a model[9] and actor.[3][10]

In 2019, Torres released his first single, Enguayabao, which received much attention from Colombians, who use the term "guayabo", to refer to a hangover and some scenes of the music video portray situations related to this state.[1][10] On Friday, February 5, 2021, he released Paisita on digital music platforms, which takes its name from the population of the Colombian region, where the "beauty of the paisita was the first thing that [Torres] noted."[1] Paisita, which was made as a thank you song to the paisa,[3][4][10] was written by Torres himself, musically produced by Homero Gallardo in his studio and the video was recorded in Medellín.[1] Afterwards, due to the repercussions his music had in Colombia,[11] he decided to move there "to continue his music career."[1][3][4][10] At that time, he had "a production of more than 15 worked songs,"[1][3][4][10] which resulted on the 12 July release of his first EP, Vevé, on digital music platforms. Vevé consisted of five songs, each with its own music video, which were released every subsequent Monday on YouTube, "highlighting his acting ability."[11][12][13][14] In addition, as an actor he has been part of the television series Life Unfiltered, coproduced by Amazon Prime, Hulu, Pluto TV, Vudu, Google Play and Apple TV. In the series he plays the youngest role in the main cast.[11][13][14]

Measuring 6 ft (1.8 metres) in height, he was based in Miami, Florida[2] and currently resides in Medellín, Colombia.[1] His philanthropic activities include the Jesuit Volunteer Corps.[15]
