From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Ještě máme co jsme chtěli (Czech: We still have what we wanted) is a novel written by Miloslav Švandrlík in 1991. The book[1] is based on part of Švandrlík's life in the late 1960s[2] before, during and shortly after the Warsaw Pact invasion of Czechoslovakia.[3] In the book, Švandrlík uses a pseudonym: Roman Kefalín.

Plot[edit]

The story is set in the time shortly before the publication of Black Barons in 1969. Private Roman Kefalín (Švandrlík) is now a fairly well-known writer actively contributing to a number of newspapers and magazines. He meets his wife, Eva, and lives a settled life. Based on his memories from the military service, he starts to work on the book Black Barons as well as working and/or contributing to various radio shows, theatre plays, TV, etc. He regularly cooperates with various artists, most notablely with Jiří Winter Neprakta. In its second part, the book depicts the situation in Prague and former Czechoslovakia during the Soviet occupation. In these difficult times, Roman Kefalín makes the decision to publish the highly controversial Black Barons with help from his friend and editor of Vysočina Publishing (Nakladatelství Vysočina), Josef Čábela.[4] The first publication had only 17 chapters and was printed out on all the paper available in the shop. The Book had massive success among the readers, but was not accepted well by the new communist leadership. Kefalín struggles to cope with his financial situation as the acceptance of his work by the state media is very limited. The book ends in an open-end manner and gives the impression of being a partial autobiography by Miloslav Švandrlík.
