Jean Valette born May 30, 1825 in Ainay-le-Vieil (Cher) and died in Paris May 4, 1878 was a French sculptor and painter.
Biography[edit]
Jean Valette enrolled in 1848 at Beaux-Arts de Paris in the workshops of François Jouffroy and Jean-Marie Bonnassieux.
He participated for the first time in the Salon in 1847, where he presented Cujas, jurisconsult. He creates ornamental sculptures for churches.
His work was rewarded with a third medal at the Salon of 1861.
Posterity[edit]
A street in Ainay-le-Vieil bears his name, as does a college in Saint-Amand-Montrond.
