Jeffery Quaye OBE PhD is a British educationalist, and a former headteacher. He is the National Director of Education and Standards at Aspirations Academies Trust.[1][2]
Education
Quaye studied at the University of Hertfordshire,[3] where he received a first-class degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. He later completed a teaching qualification (PGCE) in secondary mathematics and a Master's degree in Education. He also earned a PhD in Mathematics Education from Brunel University London.[4][5]
Career
Quaye taught in a range of schools including Hatch End High School, Harrow; Goffs School (now Goffs Academy) in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire; and Rivers Academy West London, Hounslow, serving in the latter two schools as an assistant principal. Prior to his current role as the National Director of Education and Standards at Aspirations Academies Trust, he was a senior vice principal and then the headteacher[6][7][8] at inner-city, 11–18, City of London Academy, Southwark until 2018. Quaye has also previously held the roles of regional chief executive officer[9] and director of standards and effectiveness.[10]
In 2018, Quaye's work was recognised in the Parliamentary Review[11][12] as an example of best practice for improving outcomes for disadvantaged pupils. He is a UK government education policy advisor[13][14][15] at the Department for Education and an Ofqual external expert for mathematics and education.
Quaye was made a Freeman of the City of London in 2018 and appointed by King Charles III as an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2023 New Year Honours for services to education.[16]
On September 7, 2023, Quaye was awarded an honorary doctorate in education by the University of Hertfordshire.[17]
