Jeffrey Edward Dick is an American analytical chemist and assistant professor at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. His research primarily focuses on applications of electrochemistry to the study of nanoscale biological systems.[1] Dick received his Ph.D. in 2017 under the supervision of notable electrochemist, Allen J. Bard.[2]

Career[edit]

After graduating from Ball State University with a degree in chemistry in 2013, Dick attended the University of Texas, Austin where he received his Ph.D. in chemistry working as an NSF Fellow with Allen J. Bard.[2] He completed an NIH CORE postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Texas, Austin with Kyle Miller in 2018. In July 2018, he became an assistant professor in the Chemistry Department at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

Research interests[edit]

Dick is primarily interested in applications of electrochemical techniques to nanoscale biological and physical systems.[1] His research has included measurements of single cells using microelectrodes and ultramicroelectrodes.[3][4]

Awards and honors[edit]

Dick has received numerous awards recognizing his work in nanoscale electrochemistry, including being named one of MD & DI's 30 Under 30 Young Innovators in 2016.[5] He received the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship in 2014.[2] He was selected as a representative for the 2015 U.S. Delegation to Lindau Meeting for Nobel Laureates.[6]
