Jehan Ara (Urdu: جہاں آراء) is a Pakistani entrepreneur and the current President of P@SHA since 2003. She heads the Nest i/o and is also a member of the Prime Minister's Task Force on IT and Telecom and a board[1] member of Punjab Board of Investment and Trade.[2]

Early life

Jehan Ara was born in Karachi, Pakistan and raised in Hong Kong where her father was working as a banker.[3] She received her early education from Rosaryhill School.[4] and also attended Saint Joseph's College for Women, Karachi. [5]

After completing her graduation, she started her career as a journalist in a Hong Kong newspaper for a year before moving into advertising.[6][3]

She worked in Hong Kong for several magazines and journals before then moved to the United Arab Emirates where she worked for Gulf News in the advertising marketing department.[7][3]

She moved back to Hong Kong and joined Headway Media Services as managing director.[7] She moved back to Pakistan in the mid-1990s with her family after the retirement of her father.[4][3]

Career

After moving to Pakistan, Ara started her own multimedia company, Enabling Technologies in 1994.[6][3]

In 2003, Ara became president of P@SHA.[4] In November 2018, she became a member of the Prime Minister's Task Force on IT and Telecom.[8][9] She has been active in advocacy on Digital Security and Net Neutrality in Pakistan.[10]

She has more than 30 years of experience in marketing, communications and interactive new media in Hong Kong, the Far East, the U.A.E and Pakistan.[11]


Recognition

In 2006, Ara was invited by US President Barack Obama to speak at the Global Entrepreneurship Summit.[12][13]

She is also involved in the network of World Summit Awards.[14]
