Jesse Peyronel (born 7 December 1977) is a British screenwriter, producer and director.

Early life and education[edit]

Peyronel was born in London, England to Alexandra Peyronel, a co-heir to the descendants of the Barony of Botetourt.[2] He grew up in England and Spain and also has a family in Argentina.[3]

He went to New York University to study film production. He became a production manager, an executive producer and did advertising work before becoming a full-time writer based in both Los Angeles and New York City.[3]

Career[edit]

In 2001, Peyronel's ten-minute film thesis in NYU entitled Swimming Out to Holly about a woman who keeps pretending to drown just so this one lifeguard will come and save her, garnered significant attention in the film festival circuit and marked his big break. It was a finalist in the Hypnotic Million Dollar Film Festival and ended up premiering at Sundance Film Festival, New York Film Festival, Edinburgh and Palm Springs festivals, among many others. It picked up awards and helped Peyronel secure his first agent in the entertainment business.[3][4]

He has written television pilots for the ABC (Illuminati) and ABC Family (Shadows) and has had TV specials produced and aired on Nickelodeon. Peyronel is currently writing for NBC's Dracula. As of 2014, he is developing the television series Dig for the USA Network.[5][6][7]

In 2013, he made his feature-film debut as writer and director in Siren starring Vinessa Shaw.[8][9]

As of 2014, Peyronel is teaming up with the producers of AMC's The Walking Dead in adapting the comic book Sheltered for a feature length film.[10]
