Jessica Reed Kraus (born 10 November) is an American journalist and internet personality.[1]

Jessica Reed Kraus previously documented aspects of family life that focused on an array of lifestyle topics: insights on fashion, travel, wellness, and home renovations on her blog site but has shifted in recent years to civic journalism, and has been referenced in pop culture musings and trial coverage by The Insider, New York Post and Marca, engaging her audience by making complex topics accessible.[2] She curates a roundup of current events on Instagram daily and writes a long form newsletter under the title, House Inhabitatat, on the Substack platform,[3] where she runs the news platform called HouseInHabitat (or HouseInhibited when the former is offline).[4] Kraus is best known for her coverage of the Ghislaine Maxwell trial in 2021, taking a controversial stance that some have viewed as defense for the disgraced socialite[5][6] and her pro-Depp news reporting during the Johnny Depp defamation trial against Amber Heard.[7][8] Depp confided in her on the day of the trial about his disappoint in the way the conventional media has been handling the reporting of the case which he believed portrayed in him an unfair bad light.[9][10] In 2022, she reported the news about the sex parties Amber Heard held and attended when she was dating Elon Musk.[11][12] Heard threatened to take legal action against her due to this story, and the platform she released the story on, Substack, through its Substack Defender platform pledging to handle her defense if it was ever taken to trial. Kraus is based in San Clemente, California. She is married to Mike Kraus and has four sons.[20] She is a fan of authors, Joan Didion, Hunter S. Thompson, Shirley Jackson and David Foster.[21] She has a background in fiction writing and interior design.[22]
