Krew is a group of YouTubers from Canada, best known for their Gaming videos. The group consists of Kat La (Funneh), Betty La (Rainbow), Kimberly La (Gold), Wenny La (Lunar), and Allen La (Draco), all of whom are siblings.[1] They have a total of 7 YouTube channels (ItsFunneh, GoldenGlare, DraconiteDragon, Lunar Eclipse, PaintingRainbows, KREW, and KREW SHORTS), with ItsFunneh being the main channel. Although the channel ItsFunneh is named after Funneh, it is used more like a group channel for all of Krew.[2]

ItsFunneh currently has over 10.5 million subscribers and over 12.9 billion views from more than 2,600 videos.[2] It was the most viewed Canadian gaming channel in 2020, and 5th overall[1]. Combined, all their channels have over 17.2 million subscribers million subscribers and over 13.24 billion views. ItsFunneh has been nominated for multiple Bloxy Awards (one of which was won), a Shorty Award, and two Roblox Innovation Awards (one of which was won).[3][4][5][6][7]

Krew's content mainly consists of gaming videos (especially Roblox), with all 5 siblings playing in the same game. They also occasionally post Vlogs.[2][8]

Life Before YouTube[edit]

Before making YouTube content, the Krew helped their parents run a Vietnamese restaurant.[9] In an interview with Insider, Lunar said "It was stressful to juggle between school and work, especially when we didn't have enough money to pay the bills."[9] As an "escape from reality," they would use tip money from the restaurant to buy video games.[9]

YouTube career[edit]

2011-2013: Early beginnings[edit]

In 2011, Funneh started the ItsFunneh YouTube channel. Her first video had no commentary because she was shy and timid. Later on, her siblings also appeared in the videos.[1][9]

2013-Present: YouTube success[edit]

In 2013, the channel started becoming more active. At this time, Krew started releasing comedic Minecraft videos. In an interview with Insider, Gold said, "We thought if no one watches it then that's fine, but it would just be nice to have our little characters out there,"[9] However, they noticed people watching the videos after only a few weeks. They still worked at the family business until the YouTube channel started making more money than the family business could, at which point they started doing YouTube as a full-time job. They also started going to conventions to meet their fans.[1][9]

In 2020, ItsFunneh was the most viewed Canadian gaming channel, and 5th among all countries.[1] Also in 2020, Krew was signed by Creative Artists Agency (CAA).[8]

Currently, Krew mostly uploads Roblox videos. They also upload other games (including Minecraft and Fortnite), and occasionally vlogs.[8]

Video production[edit]

Each of the siblings have different roles in video production. Rainbow "deals with the business arrangements", Draco cuts footage that should not be included, Gold does video and sound editing, Funneh does the final edits on the video when it is close to completion, and Lunar does the art.[1]

Krew Eats[edit]

Krew Eats is a mobile game for IOS and Android, which features the Krew eating. It is a partnership between Krew and BBTV.[10]
