Jessie Allen (born May 23, 1990) is an American beauty pageant titleholder from Lander, Wyoming, who was crowned Miss Wyoming 2014. She competed for the Miss America 2015 title in September 2014 but was not a finalist.
Pageant career[edit]
Early pageants[edit]
Allen competed in both the 2013 and 2014 Miss Wyoming USA pageants.[1] She placed second runner-up both times.[2][3]
Miss Wyoming 2014[edit]
Allen entered the Miss Wyoming pageant for the first time in late May 2014 after a qualifying win in a local pageant earned her the title Miss Fremont County 2014.[4] She was one of 7 qualifiers for the state title.[4][1] Allen's competition talent was a contemporary dance.[5] Her platform was "Exploring Nature's Playground: Getting Children Active Outdoors".[6][7]
Allen won the competition at Sheridan's WYO Theatre on Saturday, May 31, 2014, when she received her crown from outgoing Miss Wyoming titleholder Rebecca Podio.[8] She earned several thousand dollars in scholarship money and other prizes from the state pageant. As Miss Wyoming, her activities included public appearances across the state of Wyoming.[6] Allen's reign lasted until May 30, 2015, when she crowned her successor, Miss Wyoming 2015 Mikaela Shaw.[9][10]
Vying for Miss America[edit]
Allen was Wyoming's representative at the Miss America 2015 pageant in Atlantic City, New Jersey, in September 2014.[5][7] She was not a finalist for the national title.[11] Allen earned a $3,000 scholarship prize for her participation in the pageant.[12]
Early life and education[edit]
Allen is a native of Lander, Wyoming, and a 2008 graduate of Lander Valley High School.[13] Her father is Jim Allen and her mother is Mary Allen.[8][14] Her sister Holly Allen won the title Miss Wyoming USA 2012.[14]
Allen grew up in Lander but spent summers living and working at Allen's Diamond Four Ranch, her family's guest ranch in the Wind River Mountains.[7][8] The ranch does not have electrical service.[1]
Allen is a 2012 graduate of the University of Wyoming where she earned a bachelor of arts degree in communications.[7][13] In January 2015, Allen moved from Lander to Sheridan, Wyoming.[15]
