Jetrunner (stylized all caps) is a first-person shooter and platformer developed by Riddlebit Software and published by Curveball Games. It released on September 4, 2025 exclusively for Windows.[1]
Gameplay
Jetrunner is a mix between first-person shooter and platformer genres, with the game description likening the game to Trackmania and Titanfall.[1][2] The protagonist Nina White aims to become the champion in jetrunning, a fictional sport. The gameplay loop involves completing levels and replaying them to improve your time, with levels sometimes featuring intentional shortcuts.[3] Various tricks can be performed using "jet-fueled" tools. According to the developers, the game features over 60 courses based on various locations such as New York City or Seoul. The player has the ability to race his ghosts, as well as ghosts other players from the global leaderboard.[4][5] The game uses a cel-shaded artstyle.[6]
Development
Riddlebit Software was founded in 2017 by a group of university students in Trondheim, Norway.[7]
Jetrunner was first announced on June 3, 2025. A free demo of the game became available on June 9 during Steam Next Fest.[7] On July 17, the game received a gameplay trailer.[3] On September 4, coinciding with the launch of the game, the developers announced a speedrunning tournament with a $2,000 prize pool.[2][4]
Reception
Jetrunner became notable for releasing the same day as Hollow Knight: Silksong, a game that has been highly anticipated and caused other indie games to be delayed for fear of being overshadowed.[8][9] However, one of the developers Oliver Magnus called the Silksong release "a blessing in disguise" as the exodus of other games allowed Jetrunner to easily occupy the spot in the "New and Trending" tab on Steam and increase the amount of users wishlisting the game.[6]
