Krunker.io (also known as just Krunker) is a free browser-based multiplayer online first-person shooter video game, created by Yendis Games.
It was released for browsers on May 20, 2018, as an open beta, and went out of beta in early 2019. It can be played on mobile browsers, the webstore, and soon on Steam. Krunker has been a popular Io Game for many and arguably one of the most popular io games available to play. Krunker has a wide community and plans to expand it with their upcoming Steam release.
The Desktop/Linux enabled Client Versions were released on April 10, 2019. The game was later transferred to Yendis Entertainment PTY, a company owned by Sidney and Vincent De Vries, for further development.
Gameplay
Krunker.io is a multiplayer first-person shooter game. Players can go to the main page and automatically be placed in a Public Lobby, or find a Lobby of their liking in the Server Browser. They can also join user-created Custom Lobbies or host one of their own lobbies. Keep in mind that players with user accounts can only make progress in Public Lobbies. There are five different game modes available in Public Lobbies and 18 different game modes in Custom Lobbies. Players can also choose from 18 different classes, each with its own unique loadout of Primary, Secondary, and Melee Weapons.
The current classes are Triggerman, Sniper, RPG, Uzi, and more.
Streamers such as Sorable are very popular.
Gameplay is extremely fast-paced and has a unique combination of movement mechanics such as bhopping, slidehopping, and wall jumping. These movement mechanics used to be frame rate dependent, but due to an influx of people without proper equipment, the game was properly optimized to give 60 fps players the same advantage as those with a better PC. A Client version of Krunker was released for a more optimised performance.
The graphics are similar to Minecraft[1], with blocky characters, but the cosmetics and weapons are more detailed and realistic.
Users can also play in user-created maps or use user-created mods which alter the gaming experience significantly. There are also several events like the CanTeen Tournament[2], where several popular Australian influencers (Crayator, Loserfruit, and the Misfits) played Krunker for charity. There is also a weekly tournament series[3], with a $1000 cash prize, which is held in various regions alternatively (OCE, NA, EU, and ASIA).
Krunker was released on Steam on February 1, 2021. [4]
Reception
Brent Lee of The Koalition praised the game, describing it as a satisfying experience with "a ton of replay value" and praising its different classes, calling them the highlight of the game and what makes it different from other .io games.[5] Emma Loggins of FanBolt described Krunker.io as "surprisingly complex", with maps "chock-full of hidden nooks and crannies."[6] Emma Roth of MakeUseOf rated the game as one of the seven best online first-person shooter games, praising it for its easy-to-render graphics.[7] Very blocky style, similar to those found in Minecraft[1]
