Music video[edit]

The music video features Pooja Hegde and Ram Charan dancing for the single.[5] Prasad used a 70-year old clarinet as the song would reflect the mood of Rajahmundry of the 1980s.[6] The music video choreographed by Jani Master, gained lot of views due to its choreography and picturisation.[citation needed]

Release[edit]

The teaser of the song was released on 2 April 2018.[7] "Jigelu Rani" served as the lead single from the soundtrack album, was released on 15 March 2018, by Lahari Music,[8] along with the entire soundtrack, which featured five songs. Reception[edit]

Audience response[edit]

The song and the music video both have received critical acclaim, with critics praising the composition and lyrics, Ganta Venkata Lakshmi vocals, Jani's choreography and Hegde's performance. The song has also received considerable attention for Hegde's styling and costume.[5][additional citation(s) needed] Commercially, the song topped several charts across India.[citation needed]

The song has crossed over 165 million views for full video version[9] and more than 40 million views for its lyrical version.[8] The song went on to become a massive hit on short-video making entertainment apps like TikTok, ShareChat, and social media platforms.[citation needed]

Critical reviews[edit]

123Telugu on reviewing the music of the soundtrack wrote that "DSP churns out a mass number which is full on masala number right from the word go. The song is full of punches and DSP has made sure that the audience will have no inhibitions while dancing to it. An out and out dance number, this song will be a rage once Pooja Hegde's glamor and Charan's dance moves are released all over."[14]

IndiaGlitz.com stated that "Devi Sri Prasad consciously chooses the female voice so that the song doesn't have a trace of the post-2000 item song feel. Rela Kumar's voice fits the bill. Chandrabose's lyrics are crazy in a conventional setting. The wonderment of the men at the sight of a beauty, her knack for wearing her naughtiness on the sleeve, etc are also known elements."[15]

Chart performance[edit]

The song debuted on Mirchi Music Top 20 countdown on 11 May 2018.[additional citation(s) needed] It stayed on the chart for 8 weeks.[16][not in citation given][17][not in citation given] It became the top-streamed songs of JioSaavn in their Most Popular Item Songs.[18]
