Jigglr is a dating app designed to introduce an alternative to popular apps such as Tinder and Bumble . On Jigglr users match based solely on pre-entered data reflecting their personalities, before being able to see each others' pictures.

The mobile app was designed and is owned by Cyber Secure Central. Stirring away from the company's main focus, Jigglr was launched for iOS mobile devices in the middle of the 2020 COVID-19 crisis to favorable reviews.[2] The company intends to launch its Android version in December 2020.

    Overview[edit]

Jigglr's main focus is to allow users to match solely based pre-entered data reflecting their personalities and ideas. When signing up, users fill their profiles with information about their physical characteristics, ideas and preferences, which in turn allows others to filter through a grid-like interface to select a user based on a scrambled picture. These pictures are automatically generated from the photos users choose to upload of themselves, and are only revealed once they 'match' with another user.

To match, users have to answer a multi-option question of their counterparty's selection, which sends a notification for the other user to do the same. If both users respond to each others' question, then they're able to start communicating through text, multimedia files, and voice notes.

    Activities and changes over time[edit]

Jigglr's original release was limited to iOS devices, with the company quickly announcing the development of an Android version after the app's positive initial reception.

In September 2020 the app also announced that it would start to include its 'star-sign' feature, making users able to select their zodiac sign upon signing up and filter other users based on their symbol. The announcement, which took place on Instagram, was followed by a marked inclination of the brand to share and create content related to astrology.[3]

As a brand, Jigglr plays with intense, dark colors (mainly orange, black, and purple), and a sexy, playful tone, fitting the decision of the brand not to take itself too seriously. The brand communicates its activities and decisions through its Facebook and Instagram profiles, where it also regularly posts memes and occasional collaborations with designers and performers.

    Reception[edit]

Jigglr was received with enthusiastic reviews from the public, with a 4.9 rating on its Apple Store page.[4] The app also received a favorable review from the website Dating App Ranks, which named it 'The Best Dating App Launched in 2020'.[5] The site noted that the app "requires users to engage depending on personality and wit, instead of on clear pictures at first" as one of Jigglr's highlights.
