Jim Osayande Obazee

Jim Osayande Obazee was the Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria from November 2010 to January 2017.[1] He was also the Chairman of the 29th Session of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development / International Standards of Accounting and Reporting (UNCTAD-ISAR) and Chairman of the Committee on the Roadmap to the adoption of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) in Nigeria.[2]

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the University of Benin, a Master of Science degree in accounting from the University of Lagos, and a certificate in strategic financial analysis for business evaluation from the Harvard University, USA.[1] He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), a member of both the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM) and the American Accounting Association (AAA).[1]

On January 9, 2017, Obazee was removed from office by President Muhammadu Buhari and immediately replaced by Daniel Asapokhai.[3]

In March 2021, the Nigerian Senate Committee on Public Accounts ordered him to return 94 million naira to the Federation Account.[4]
