Jimmy DeWayne Pruitt (born November 28, 1992) is an American football cornerback who is currently a free agent. He played college football at San Jose State.

Early life and college career[edit]

Born in San Diego, Pruitt attended Helix High School in La Mesa, California, playing both wide receiver and cornerback on the football team.[1]

From 2012 to 2015, Pruitt played four seasons of college football at San Jose State, including on teams that won the 2012 Military Bowl and 2015 Cure Bowl. Pruitt played 47 games in his collegiate career with 183 tackles, eight interceptions, 28 passes defended, six forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries.[1][2]

Professional career[edit]

Not selected in the 2016 NFL Draft, Pruitt signed as a free agent with the New Orleans Saints in 2016. After tearing his patellar tendon during the Saints' third preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers in August 2016, he was placed on injured reserve.[3] He was waived by the Saints on May 1, 2017 after a failed physical.[4]
