Career[edit]

Baltimore Orioles[edit]

Berry attended San Marcos High School in San Marcos, California.[1] Berry committed to attend the University of Oregon. He tore the ulnar collateral ligament of the elbow during his senior year of high school. The Baltimore Orioles selected Berry in the 50th round of the 2009 MLB Draft, and offered him the opportunity to rehabilitate from Tommy John surgery in their organization. He signed rather than enroll at Oregon, receiving a $125,000 signing bonus.[2]

In 2013, Berry pitched for the Frederick Keys of the Class A-Advanced Carolina League, where he had an 11-7 win–loss record and a 3.85 earned run average in 27 games started. The Orioles assigned Berry to the Arizona Fall League after the 2013 season.[3] He appeared in the AFL Rising Stars Game.[2] The Orioles added Berry to their 40-man roster to protect him from the Rule 5 draft on November 20, 2013.[4][5] In 2014, he pitched for the Bowie Baysox of the Class AA Eastern League, and appeared in the league's All-Star Game.[2][6] The Orioles promoted Berry to the major leagues on June 6,[7] but demoted him the next day.[8]

Berry made changes to his pitching delivery in 2015, but after struggling through nine starts with Bowie, he returned to his original delivery.[9]

Miami Marlins[edit]

Berry was selected off waivers by the Miami Marlins on December 23, 2015.[10] On May 24, 2016, Berry was designated for assignment by the Marlins.[11]

Second Stint with Orioles[edit]

Berry was acquired by the Baltimore Orioles from the Miami Marlins in exchange for cash considerations. He elected free agency on November 6, 2017.

Philadelphia Phillies[edit]

On February 23, 2018, Berry signed a minor league deal with the Philadelphia Phillies. [12] He was released on May 18, 2018.[13]
