Folarin Oluwafeyijinmi Abdulsalami (born 27 August 1997) popularly known as Jinmi Abduls is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, music producer and recording artiste. His 2016 single, Tinuke Eko, earned him notoriety in the Nigerian music scene and his debut E.P. Jolag, featuring several artistes including DMW's Mayorkun.[1][2]

Early Career[edit]

In 2007, at the age of 10, Jinmi Abduls came in second place during a talent competition, which held on the TV show, Moments with Mo. He won a smart phone and began using the phone to listen to music of different genres, piquing his interest in music. At the age of 11, he recorded and released his debut single, With You, produced by his elder brother Versebeats.[3]

2016 - date[edit]

He continued to experiment with different genres of music, developing a variant of the traditional Nigerian high-life genre and in August 2015 he released the single Pose, produced by H.O.D.,[3] which followed through with a remix featuring BOJ and video in 2016.[4]

In June 2016, Jinmi Abduls released the single Tinuke Eko.[5] The single produced by Remy Baggins enjoyed rave reviews and numerous rotations on radio stations. Jinmi Abduls teamed up with afrobeats singer, Mayorkun in 2017 and released the sleeper hit, Scum.[6]

In 2018, in anticipation of his sophomore E.P., Jinmi Abduls released the single Blessings.[7][8] The success of the single attracted the attention of music management company, The Plug, and in May 2019, he signed a management deal with the company,[9] after which he released the single, Abena.[10]

In July 2019, Jinmi Abduls featured Oxlade on a new single, Greed. The single, produced by Iileeriixo, was inspired by the EDM sound, grounded with indigenous drum riffs and rattling samples.[11][12]
