Joanne McCafferty (born 11 May 1967) is an Australian lawyer, political candidate and public servant.

Early life[edit]

She was born and educated in the Georges River area and later completed a B.A., LL.B, at the University of Sydney and an M.Com. at the University of New South Wales.[1]

Career[edit]

She started her career as an infrastructure and construction lawyer for Blake Dawson Waldron, now known as Ashurst LLP.

From 1997 to 2002, she was a management consultant in Shanghai, China working with major foreign investors developing greenfield opportunities and joint ventures across a range of sectors including law, construction and manufacturing.[2]

Between 2007 and 2008 she was National Manager for Policy at Infrastructure Partnerships Australia.[3]

She is currently Vice-President External Affairs & Communications at Thales Australia.[4][5]

Political career[edit]

Joanne McCafferty represented the Liberal Party at the 2003 election for the seat of Georges River in the New South Wales Legislative Assembly.[6]

From 2008 to 2011, she was Senior Advisor for the [Parliament of New South Wales].

Between 2011 and 2013 she was Chief of Staff to Greg Pearce, who was the NSW Minister for Finance and Services in the O'Farrell ministry and the First Baird ministry.[7][8]
