John "Irish Johnny" Copeland
John "Irish Johnny" Copeland is a Missouri sports hall of fame boxer[1] who was killed at the age of 58 after (presumably) stumbling into the road and being struck by a big rig.[2] His car had broke down and he began walking to the nearest town when (presumably) due to his many concussions he stumbled into the road a little and was hit. He was found a few days later and pronounced dead on the spot. The driver was never caught and the case is still open as a hit and run.
John Copeland won golden gloves 3 times during his career. He never lost a single fight at the golden gloves competitions and would have had 4 consecutive wins but do to a broken jaw in the semifinal match of the third year he had to forfeit the title but came back the next year to knockout and win the title for the third time beating the man he was supposed to fight in the title match the previous year.
