Captain John Hext (1766-1838) was a British Esquire. He was Captain of the 22nd Regiment of Foot, and Deputy Lieutenant for the county of Cornwall. He also served as Deputy Lord Warden of the Stannaries.[1]
Hext was born in 1766 in Trenarren, Cornwall into a well respected local family. On October 14, 1799, he married Elizabeth Staniforth, the daughter of Thomas Staniforth, a former Lord Mayor of Liverpool.[2]
He died at Lostwithiel, Cornwall on 30 June 1838 aged 71.
